Has anyone had any experience with these hand held sonar units for ice fishing such as the LX-i or the Vexilar? Been debating on whether to bother and get one for the ice fishing season.

I have owned a Marcum LX-i for several years and find it useful. With a few drops of water, it will shoot through clear ice and mark the depth and will also beep and mark the depth of any fish that happen to swim by.

Kent, is it accurate enought to invest in? How does it compare to the other flashers fished at the same time (does it show the same fish, or does it miss some)?
I would think for the depth finding it would be awesome. Wondered if it would be worth it if I wanted to use it to mark fish accurately.

It seems to be accurate. It really is only meant to be used to find the depth and check for fish that might pass by while checking for depth. It shuts off after a short time and also one must hold it while checking the depth. It is nice to have but definitely not a necessity.

Sounds good. That's what I was thinking it would best used for. I don't think anyone would be dissappointed with it knowing what "niche" it fills. Marcum Tech makes good equipment.
