Hey Folks
I read the blog daily just don't post much. I haven't had my boat out since August. Work, hunting season, crappy weather. I am looking at this Friday for an excursion. I see its partly cloudy 50 to 60 degrees with super light wind. Does the cooler weather effect the striper fishing much? Next question I almost always go to Echo Bay around Stewart's point. Is there any new current hot spot's up there or in town. I have a 06 Bass Tracker v16. I make the last payment this month. I need to go fishing! Though I don't post much, I learn alot, and love the pictures.
Thanks Cacoon

Hey I'll say this much about the weather: I was at Govt wash on Monday (overcast, cold morning) and I saw two small/brief boils happen right in front of me--I caught 1 fatty lmb and a handful of stripers--all with poppers and spooks, it was definitely ON. The water is surprisingly warm still from the summer, I plan on hitting the water tomorrow morning

All right then, I will definitely look for a good day Friday. Maybe I'll head to Govt. Wash area, I usually hang out at 33 hole when I fish in town.
Thanks

best of luck to you! I've had a lot of luck behind that isald that is directly across from where the ski-tards (jetskiiers) launch

Ok I ended up at Echo Bay. I asked a friend to go fishing with me and it turned out 3 other friends were headed to Echo with their boat so I tagged along with mine. Hit the water at 0800. We trolled all the way to Stewart's point. Then we played with anchovies for awhile. Then I tried everything in my box. At the end of the day my friends had one smb (small) and I had one very small striper, hook was bigger than his mouth. There was a light rain for the first hour, a slight breeze, and overcast. It was a great day on the lake. I can't wait to get back! The best news is this may have been my last trip in a boat I owe on! My last payment is next month. My wife asked if I was going to look at new boats, when my 2006 tracker v-16 is payed off. I said why would I want to sell something I OWN! I think I am going to appreciate fishing in MY BOAT a little bit better.

When it comes to wind, I prefer not to go out if the forecast says sustained winds over 10mph. Sometimes I would push it up to 15mph in the 21' boat. In a 14-16'... 10 mph winds can be pretty nasty in open water, and paying close attention to the water is necessary. If I'm catching fish, the weather doesn't bother me much. But getting tossed around in the boat for no action is another story. Be safe and always carry the required safety gear.

I'm glad to hear you made it out and had a good time.

Oh and congrats on paying off the boat. I'd like to upgrade to a tracker one day.
