So I may have talked the fiance into spending the wedding night in island park and ice fishing the morning after on Henrys.......if it ices back over next week. So I'm going to need some help on conditions. Not too often I come right out and ask for condition updates but this time I need you some help! If anyone wants to help me out in the coming week with what's going on it would be much appreciated! Happy thanksgiving also!

Conditions were bad yesterday. We found a small area of stable ice but much of the lake was messed up.

Tuesday I caught several small fish. There is 5" of good ice in Goose bay. A guy next to me caught a 23" and 24" hibrid. Two very nice fish. The bite was very light.Curt G.

Thanks for the report Curt, Sounds like the weather is going to suck so going to be in the shelter most of the time, personally we just need to catch one for her! Either way we are staying at the Wild Rose Friday night.

It seems like sometimes the fish would come up after biting the bait and the spring bobber would barely move. Several times they would move the jig 3 feet side ways . looked like it was more wind caused than a bite other than the line was near the edge of the hole when it should be in the middle. When it happened I was only able to hook 25 % of them.

I noticed the same thing a few days last year up there. After picking up a shelter I saw it in the hut a couple of times and after being able to look down in the hole and see what was going on I just learned to set the hook if it was doing anything other than straight down the hole. To the point I spend a lot of time looking down at my jig vs just feeling a fish take it.

I'm still planning on heading up there on Wednesday morning. Probably won't be able to fish until the afternoon, but I'd sure love to here some ice reports from this week end if anyone is around. The warm weather has me really concerned that I may not be able to fish when I get there.

I'm planning on heading up again on Tuesday and I'll post a report when I get back. I think the ice should be ok.

Four of us fished there yesterday and had one if the best day fishing we've ever had. I'll post a report with pictures when I get some time. Ice was a solid 6 inches at the state ramp.

We started out in the morning with non stop action, we lost count of how many we caught but we were busy running back and forth catching fish having a blast. My dad hooked into a monster and it was really tense for a while trying to get that big fish on the ice, it was taking line out and we couldn't get its head to turn up the hole. We finally managed to land it and it measured just under 28" and weighed 8.75 pounds. Awesome way to start out the ice fishing season. The fishing slowed down late morning but we picked up a fish here and there about every 20 minutes until we left at noon. They wanted anything pink with worm. Dead sticking was what we caught most of them on, jigging would bring them in but if you moved it to much they would be scared off.

Congratulations on a great trip and a beautiful fish!

That is a nice one. Haven't caught one like that for several years. At dark this evening it was 39 degrees and 2" of water/slush on top of 5" (east end) and blowing 15 with gusts to 20. My 40lb child had a hard time staying in the chair due to the wind if he leaned forward. It was a short 35 min adventure. 2 Kids caught 3 and missed 3.
