Went home for the holidays and had a chance to spend a couple days chasing fish on and around magic. Friday was a gorgeous fall day and the lake was calm as can be. The fish were cooperating and between 3 of us we landed 27 mostly in the 16-18 inch range and missed several other fish. Saturday we hit the Richfield canal for a couple hours and I picked up 5 there on flies while the other two guys tossed lures and landed a couple.
After that we ran back over to the lake and fished for the last couple hours that we had until we had to head back and it was a different story than the day before. we landed 3 fish in about 2 hours with two of them being over 20 inches and decided it was time to get out of the wind and head home.

Brownie,
Wow, nice first day especially. Even on the second day, it is worth waiting for 20+ ers. So, were you trolling or bank fishing? Again, congrats. Mike

Thanks for the report. What's the water level like? How full is the res?

It's low but I have seen it lower, biscuit island is out of the water and theres a few hundred yards of bank going towards hotsprings from there. They've also cut off the majority of the water coming out of the dam so it should hold steady or start filling up slowly.

Come ice up, will we be able to access the ice from Hot Springs ramp?

It will be a long walk unless they fill it up in a hurry.

At last report they were still letting water out of Magic because they seem to be taking their sweet time in fixing the leak in the dam. And yes, it will be a long walk in from Hot Springs Landing before you get to ice this winter. [fishin]
