Someone mentioned that I should clarify my numbers because it seemed like I was single handly catching huge numbers of fish at Henrys over the Thanksgiving weekend. My intention was never to decieve anyone.

For the record....
Wednesday: I was fishing with my neighbor and his three boys as well as one of my sons.

People Fishing: 6
Fish Caught: Around 20
Hours Spent Fishing: 4*6 people
Lines in the water: 13
Average fish per person: 3.33
Average fish per line: 2.16
Average fish per angler hour: 1.2

Friday: I was fishing with another neighbor and three of my sons.

People Fishing: 5
Fish Caught: Around 35
Hours Spent Fishing: 5*5people
Lines in the water: 13
Average fish per person: 5
Average fish per line: 2.7
Average fish per angler hour: 1.4

Saturday: I was fishing with my wife and three sons. I had another son and daughter there but I wouldn't say they were fishing.

People Fishing: 5
Fish Caught: Around 20
Hours Spent Fishing: 4*5people
Lines in the water: 10
Average fish per person: 4
Average fish per line: 2
Average fish per angler hour: 1.0

I actually think it was good to break it down this way. I don't like to sound spoiled but the fishing is slower than other Thanksgiving day weekends for me. There could be a lot of factors involved in that including ice conditions, but I just don't see the fishing as being overpopulated. Especially considering the good condition of the fish I was catching.

It would be interesting to see some of you other Henrys fisherman post what you got per man hour. Not for bragging rights but just for a non-scientific poll.

I often break my own fishing down to fish per hour. 1 fish per hour is pretty slow IMO. Sorry you weren't doing better. Thanks also for clarifying the numbers. FPH really puts it into perspective.

That break down right there is similar to how I evaluate things. Its a much better way of looking at things IMO. Either way, a slow day ice fishing is better than a good day at work.

If I get your point, I agree and you are right. 1 fish per hour always beats 0 fish per hour.[Smile] Which is exactly how many I catch at work......[frown] I've got to change jobs.[blush]

I also want everyone to understand I am not complaining. Just breaking it down a different way. I don't like getting skunked anymore than the next person simply because I feel like I have failed at my quest. At the same time I don't need to catch huge numbers of fish everytime to enjoy myself.[cool]

Just for the record on my side as well, I never thought that you were either bragging or complaining. You went, you had an awesome time with your family and friends, now you are reporting to help others do the same. I think you are awesome and your vids are awesome too.

I apologize if I somehow twisted your intent into something else. Most importantly, I'm glad you had a good time. I hope I have as much fun when I go next week. Perhaps I'll run into you there?

We are going on Dec 5-8th. We have a cabin lined up (through my sister) and I believe it is on Goose Bay, but I'm not certain. If it is in fact on Goose Bay, we'll likely spend most of our time fishing there. We will have at least one sled and one ATV, so we will have mobility, but I'm not certain that it would make that much difference to move a lot, so we will likely spend most of our time in Goose Bay. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you are in the area stop by and say hello. I'll be the one on the yellow ATV with the black Cabelas 6x12 shelter.

Same goes for the rest of you as well.

Saturday: I was fished with my dad
People Fishing: 2
Fish Caught: Around 14
Hours Spent Fishing: 2*8
Lines in the water: 10
Average fish per person: 7
Average fish per line: 1.4
Average fish per angler hour: .9

we were strait across the fish hatchery i do believe on a public boat ramp? a big black jig worked the best for me tipped with a worm. i caught 5 or 6 that way. and the jaw jackers i had caught 3 and missed 3 or so. there was around 2 inches of ice so it was pretty sketchy. i think if we would have had a couple meal worms we would have done better. but last second trips. we didnt have the time to go and buy them. best of luck to everyone. be safe

Every time I see you there are anywhere from 2 to 5 others with you. So someone in your group hooks one more often that a person by themselves. When I go by myself it is an all day thing. With the kids they decided on how long we stay. Last weekend I was there alone from 11am to dark (5 ish) Landed about 30 with 5 rods out most of the time. That equals 1 fish per rod per hour. Most of the time 3 of the rods had 1 fish every 2 hours and the "better rods" were more like 2- 3 FPH average. Several times catch one, rebait ,drop, another hookup.

Friday I fished 11 to 4. For each fish caught, I missed at least one other. The highlight of the day was missing two fish (or the same fish twice) on different rods while texting my better half a fishing report. Serves me right for taking the phone fishing.

Ice was three inches and clear.
