Flyfishingfool and I made it up to Salmon last wednesday (day before Thanksgiving). We did alright. 5 hooked and landed, and a couple potentials lost. 4 hatchery and 1 native. 4 fish were below North Fork, one was above it. I put up pics and a full report on the blog. Thanks to all the people who have given updates. We hope to get out again before too long with this unusually warm winter so far.

This is my first post i've made, so i'd like to say hello to everyone. I've read threads on this sight alot over the past couple of years to get updates. I'd like to say thanks to all that have put info on here it has really helped out.

me and dad were able to make up to salmon the friday and saturday of thanksgiving weekend. we floated tower down to red rock for the first time ever and had pretty good sucess. hooking 6 and landing 4 in the two days. friday dumped tons of snow on us but it was well worth it!

hoping to make it up there again in the next couple weeks!!!

I came back from a convention in Boise yesterday via Salmon. We got up above Challis and my wife pointed out the various fishermen on the water and asked me what I thought they were catching. I told her I wasn't sure this time of year until we passed a guy walking back up to his truck with a flyrod set up very similar to my steelhead/salmon flyrod I've used on the Rogue and Siletz rivers in OR. Then above Salmon I noticed several kick boats out (one of my favorite ways to fish), and again, several larger fly rods, so I told my wife it's either steelhead or chinooks if they make it up that far.

So how long does this still steelhead run last? It was quite warm yesterday coming thru - and being that it's only a 200 mile drive for me back down to Salmon....I may want to take a weekend before Christmas and do some exploring.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

Season ends April 30. Fishing is good the entire time. As long as the slush ice isn't running in the river its fishable.
