Welcome to BFT. I am looking forward to your reports. Especially if you catch some more like the fish in your picture! Do you mind sharing about catching it? You don't have to get into "where details" etc if you don't want.
Do you stream fish or ice fish in the winter, or both?

I fish anywhere and everywhere there might be trout. Don't do a lot of still water fishing but do ice fish in the winter. I started bait fishing as a kid with my family then switched to lures then to flys. I mostly fish lures now but do take out the fly rod quite a bit.
The fish in my profile Picture was caught in July of this year on a CD11 Gold Countdown Rapala in a slough off of the Lower Henrys Fork. Love Coundown Rapalas but fish a lot of different BIG stick baits. Like big spinners too. I fly fish with mainly Streamers but do throw Hoppers and Salmonflys when in season.
Have attached another recent pic of a Hen brown I estimate at 5lbs. I caught on the Lower Henrys last Sat. Panther Martin Size 15 All Gold. Water was high and a little off color. Tough day but managed to catch a few.
Tight lines
If i hit reply to a message does it show in the thread or just to you??

Ha Ha Ha Nice Hole Jermey
Heard tell there were some 8 to 10lb Trout swimming in the Portneuf in the McCammon\Inkom stretch. You ever fish that stretch down low. Any truth to the story I heard. Saw a pic too. Hard not to beleive.

Ahhhhh Can see my posts in the thread.
One more thing.
Going to try and jet up to the Dam above the SunnySide Bridge in Idahofalls on Sat. Heard rumors of Big Browns from an IdahoFalls Power employee. Anyone ever done this? Guess the IF power Employess have caught some wall hangers from both the SunnySide outlet and the IF outlet upstream. Have pulled in some nice fish from below the Gem Lake Dam so am feeling good about the info. Google Earth shows a pipe crossing the river just below the bridge. Can I run a small boat under it? If no one knows ill report back with the info.
Any info I post will be legitimate. No tall tales.

8-10 pound trout from mccammon to inkom its possible but not very many the majority being 1-3 pounds and smaller. i grew up in mccammon and fished allot of the area. there is some prime fishing spots but allot of it is private land. ive scene a couple around 6-7 pounds but they were old ugly browns. biggest rainbows ive scene out of the portneuf down low ive caught and they still were only around 3 pounds at biggest. no doubt there are some bigger fish but there far few and in between.
I have attached a picture of a pretty typical sized brown from portneuf.

i did not weigh pictured fish but if i had to guess he was only 1.5 pounds. i measured him on my pole and he was aprox 16 inches. and that is a pretty typical length brown for the portneuf. most are a little skinnier and less color full. I have however found a spot where my smallest brown was 16" out of it and longest was 20 1/4"
its going to take some serious coaxing to get this spot out of me though..

Nice fish. The spoon your using works better for me with an orange strip down the middle. Old timers in Springfield swear by the Hammered Brass with the orange strip. I've caught a few nice ones on it too. Looks like a wooden bridge in the pic. Not enough info to give away the spot. I would probably choose to try and float the river there if I was to come down and fish it. Not sure if that's possible but if there isn't access I usually find a way. I've pulled canoes over fences and portaged around waterfalls in the name of Lunkers.
The fish Pic I saw was a Rainbow caught on a minnow. Pretty sure it was way down low towards Inkom. Would like to float it some time just to see whats in there.

its possible there are some holes that way that could very well hold some big bows.. but my experience bows that size out of the portneuf are pretty beat and ugly.. and log up real fast. here is a picture of a 21" bow out of the portneuf and this is an exception for looks.. this one came out close to mccammon. on a mepps agila brass #1

maybe ill get them all in one post next time.. here is a 5 pound bow that is out of the same water that runs through the portneuf just way up high at the start of the river.. she was 23 inches but very fat. i know I handled the gills and I kept this one because i mishandled it for a photo op
