I drove to Strawberry today to check out the ice for an upcoming scout outing. Bottom line... there is none, actually I found some by Strawberry Bay, but mud creek, which is one of the first bays to ice up, was all open water, although the temp at 3 pm today was 22. Attached is a photo of Mud Creek, Strawberry Bay, and the lodge/store at Strawberry Bay. May be a week or two yet before the ice shows up.
Prior to driving to the Berry, we ran the snowmobile up to Mill Hollow Res to check on the ice there. Snow was about a foot deep on the ice with 3 to 4 inches of slush. Ice was very solid, although I did not punch a hole in it. Also attached are 3 pictures of that area. One is looking east towards the camp grounds, one looking south across the lake and one looking up the hill at my son. I was standing on the ice at the dam when taking the pictures.
