I ventured out and tested the ice on Little Payette on Saturday. I you think you want to go there, at this point you better be very careful.
There were places where the ice seemed reasonably safe for walking (NO MACHINES!). That was only in the shallow water areas, and not all of them. There were places where there was about 1.5 inches of slush ice, an inch of slush and then another 2 inches of ice (half blue, half slush) under that.
I only fished for about 30 minutes in 5-6 FOW because I didn't dare venture out any further (especially by myself). Never even had a nibble.
