Im pretty pissed about it. We need to organize a website for Utah are firearm sales. I have a buddy starting on it. With all the other crap that's been announced today...looks like the beginning of the end for us firearm enthusiasts.

i just heard from a friend at bcs says they want to try to request records of types of firearms sales info on types of weapons sold and held by the public
is this what the mayans were warning about 12-22-2012

Calm, assertive will win this race..Emotional control over panicked reactionism will prevail. We are a gun owning country, and that will never change. We gun owners caused the ammo prices skyrocket and availability of firearms to plummet when everyone freaked out about Obama four years ago...and then NO laws were passed inhibiting ownership or use of guns...I am going to be pissed if that happens again. Lose you cool and sleep with your pile of guns under your pillow if you want, but my opinion is that our guns are safe despite the emotional rhetoric that is presented to us...This too shall pass.

It's a big knee jerk reaction spurred on by the news media which I believe to be pretty much bleeding heart liberal. I do agree that we need better control of gun purchases to at least try to limit acces to guns by persons with mental issues, criminal histories etc. If that requires a two month background check to make the first firearm purchase, so be it. I have to defer to some with better legal minds than I have to work out a solution to this difficult issue.
I myself have no problem at all with banning outright the sale of or, for that matter ownership of assault type arms. The were designed for the sole purpose of taking human life and have limited sporting application. I know almost every gun enthusiast sees this as just the first step to banning all firearms but I disagree. We gun owners have a quite a bit of political clout but we have to stick together tightly to wield it effectively. Sounds like an NRA propaganda blurb I know but it's not. I quit the NRA when I finally got tired of being constantly hounded for more money.
The saying "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have them." is all too true. As I have posted before, I'll part with my guns on my dying day.
We all need to let our elected officials know our feelings and be ready to put up one helluva fight.
Another thought, any crime committed with a firearm needs to be made a capital offense with the death penalty automatic upon conviction and without appeal. We don't need to be babysitting and supporting any more Allgier type scum.

finally a calm assertive answer! since KSl stopped the use of their classifieds, which by the way was the 3rd largest online listing of guns in the US, try using this:

I want to know where is the ban on violent TV and movies? Lets go after the teacher not the tool. Bad choice KSL. J

Ah, but zombies are in. Don't you know? Everyone just loves to go around killing, even if they are already dead. And that's why we need the assault weapons, for the day the virus starts taking action!!!

Amazing to me what can pass as PG13 these days.
But - oh - it's only special effects.
I'm not a big fan of all the cop shows lately but the ones I have watched I'm concerned about how evil of ideas it's showing for their twisted bad guys. Makes you wonder why people are becoming so twisted?

Im not mad about it at all. as my name would suggest I am a gun enthusiast myself. I have bought and sold guns on ksl myself however I always do it legally. There have been times I have purchased firearms on ksl and the seller didnt even want me to fill out a bill of sale! of course I always do that but to me that says anyone can get a firearm if they want one from ksl. and I know criminals will always have ways to procure firearms and they always will. I have found some pretty great deals using ksl but if they dont put it back on I wont be too upset. And if I have to pay the extra 1 or 200 bucks to buy what I want from the store thats ok with me because the extra money I pay is worth the piece of mind knowing it got just a little harder for some crook to get a gun....
The first person shooter video games are so realistic with the graphics these days. And some of the story lines for them are very twisted, running people over with your car, hit the hooker with a pipe and such. There's no wonder of some mentally deficient people blurring the game and reality. Or the adrenaline junkie not being able to get their fix anymore with just the game.
And on that note, if people start killing other people with a pipe, do we ban pipe.

I agree that TV and Games are pretty influencing, but PARENTS need to step up. I realize these days both parents need to work. TV and Game are raising the children. Rules need to be laid down. Quality time as apposed to Quantity.
Somewhere along the line, Death has been dismissed as "final".
This boy was mentally challenged. His mother took steps to protect siblings, but what about a gun safe?
What about teaching the boy what death really means.

I guess I am guilty of it as well, but everyone is blaming everyone else. As Barney Fife said "Nip it in the Bud" It all starts in the raising and expressing values.

This boy killed with gun and across the world same thing but with a Knife. Are knives going to get a ban?

Oh and for some reason people think that all guns are automatic? I thought the closest you can get without fabricating is a Semi-automatic.

I say we get the word out and make BFT the main website for gun classifieds in Utah! Here here?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Quality time. Take time to teach your kids.

there has always been sick and twisted people through out history.
examples.. Vlade the impeller, jack the riper, most all the Roman Empire in the days of the Coliseum, the Huns, the Vikings, the Spanish inquisition (love that one my self you don't believe in the same god i do so I'll kill you) the Muslims seem to have about the same attitude today. i could go on and on.. but where TV has only been around what around 70 or 80 years not sure. video games have only been around 40 years i got one of the first pong games the first year it came out.. been playing most all my life and i don't feel a need to go shoot anyone.. so i think it more how sick and twisted we as humans can be and not the TV or video games are..
and i would like to point out there was no guns around through out most of that history.. again it's only been what 150 year or so the repeating shot guns have been available?
just my 2 cents..

This is TEMPORARY on KSL as per the news. Just their way of paying condolences I guess.
Now on a different note, there is a company that makes bulletproof back packs for kids.
How do you all feel about that?
[signature]
Indeed it is temporary.

Bulletproof packs for kids - you might be on to something there. [cool]

Flygoddess,

I gotta agree with you 100% about parents needing to step up. I've had at least 60 years (I'm 72) to watch the way parenting has changed in our society. When I was young, we were taught respect for authority and our elders as well as for the rights of others. When we failed to do so, we suffered the consequences. A flat hand, belt, flyswatter, switch, wooden spoon etc. administered with enough force and duration to impress on us the gravity of our transgressions usually "adjusted" our attitudes. In fact, the use of a wooden paddle, while only used for major offenses, was standard practice in the elementary school I attended. Some of my high school teachers kept one in their desks but I don't recall one ever being used. If any of my brothers or I received discipline, corporal or otherwise at school, we really got it when we got home. None of us grew up warped in our behavior, in fact several people have told me that my siblings and I were some of the best behaved young people to grow up in our town.
When I returned from my stint in the Marines, I remember noticing a change. Kids, even little ones, were sassy to others and were allowed to throw tantrums in public and the parents did little to correct them. If they did anything it was to distract or mollify them. Also, if a child was even physically restrained at school, the parents were up in arms to defend the brat. Far, far too many children today have insufficient behavior guidance from their parents and it really shows.
Add to that the violence shown on TV, in the movies and in so awful many video games and it's no wonder there are so many warped people in our society.
When parents abrogate their parenting responsibility and hand it off to the schools and childcare yet are willing to "go to war" to defend misbehaving brats, it's no wonder things are going wrong. I kinda think they may be so defensive out of guilt that they haven't taught their kids better.
I don't know where we go from here what with so many parents needing two incomes to get by but I do know that I often feel like apologizing to my grandchildren for the mess they've inherited.
Whooooeeee! I got on my soapbox this time. MODS NOTE, if I went too far, I won't get all hurt if you pull this.

And if there was a disagreement, it was with fists, or maybe chains or a bat and if real bad, a knife. Something to leave a mark as a reminder. But today, it is forever.
We are not born this way, it is something we learn.
I see the same tv shows and play the same games, but I am not stupid enough to think this is reality. My mother taught me that at a very young age.

Ya just dated yourself as a lot younger than me. When I was growing up, a fight was fists or wrestling, kinda catch as catch can. No hitting when the opponent is down, no low blows etc., no weapons of any kind, no 2 on 1 or anything like that & the crowd kept it that way. A foul move was regarded as throwing the rulebook away and God help the offender. I've knocked a guy down but let hin get back up and kick my butt. Fought fair though.
