Is what it takes to go out on early ice! Good grief - I dragged my boy onto two inches of clear solid iceness. Was fine till that one burp of an ice check when kazoom under and across the lake. Whew - Butt-pucker moment if ever... son's "go gett'm" attitude turned to "ok we're done, let's go" - a few perch later, things lightened up.

First fish iced!

Had some live-action reports as Bama made his way out. We were later getting started. Crossed paths as it-were. But we went for it. Smooth as slickery snot! But clear solid ice - what there is of it. Few groups along the west dike. Docks have been up for a few weeks now.
We headed from the south road but not too far out. Not a whole lot of crazy action, but got into some perch, gills, and a fat trout. I think if we'd felt more confident would could have moved around more. But it was a bit spooky. But fun as hell just to be on ice again!

And I'll say it again - I LOVE having a decent fish-finder for ice! Left the camera home this run, but still - watching a fish come arc off bottom to check out your bouncing jigs... then boing - spring bobber, and go! Missed a bunch of bites, and had a fat-ass gill that disconnected on the finder cable! Had I been quick enough - it was still sitting in the hole for a sec!

It was a grand day out. Well - short quick morning anyway!
