I've been Jones'en to get up to Cascade, but the night before I was to head up, I started having trouble with my truck. Since then, I've been waiting on parts. I'd sure love to hear some news from up there. I plan on heading up ASAP after I get my truck back together. Any news on ice conditions and where you've been going would be greatly appreciated. I'd also really be interested in knowing if anyone has been using ATV's or snowmobiles on the ice yet.

Anxiously waiting your reports.[Smile]

Already ice fished there 2 weekends. It's been ok. Some really nice fish with a bunch of dinks.

I'm going up this weekend and have room in the truck if you want to go.

Ive seen exactly zero other groups on the ice. I know duck-slayer was up there last weekend in a different area. No quads or sleds yet that I've seen.

I will be there this weekend as will duck-hunter. I will keep you posted.

Hoping to get my truck put back together tonight (parts were supposed to be here yesterday, but never showed, delayed due to snow is the story I get). If so, then I'll think I'll be heading up Friday morning.

I appreciated the offer for a ride and would love to get out with you some time, but that probably won't help this time. My brother is in town from Alaska, along with his son from Michigan, and then there's my Dad and his foster son. I wouldn't even begin to lay all that on bumming a ride from someone. Getting the truck back together should only take 1-2 hours if I can get the darn parts.

My dad has a truck we can take if needed, but I just feel obligated to get mine back on the road since I'm stealing my sons (POS) while mine is down. I hate to leave him without since he needs to look for work.

Fished near Sugar Loaf on Friday. It wasn't a great day, but we did bring home several nice fish. Kill-switch (aka Duck Slayer) brought home 17 (I think) keepers and I brought home 12. Also released 2 rainbows, long distance released 1 girthy rainbow, and had a TM go for my bait one time (saw him just below the ice as he passed under after taking a swipe at my lure.

Only got 5 keepers all day, until the last 2 hours. Then it was on. Orange was the best color for me. Got 7 in the last 2 hours.

There was a guy buzzing around on a snowmobile and I thought he was pretty much nuts since a couple places I drilled only had 2.5-3 inches of ice.

I think I'll head back tomorrow. Since we've had quite a bit more cold weather (-1 today, and supposed to be 1 tomorrow and single digits every night since at least thursday) I am thinking the ice should be notably thicker and I'm thinking I'll take my ATV, but it would be great to get a more up to date report for confirmation.

I'll be posting a perch entry for the ice fishing contest as soon as I get around to taking the pictures off my camera.

I'm heading to Sugar Loaf. Haven't decided if I am going to take the ATV yet or not. I think the ice should be good by now, but the reports are not all that favorable at this point. If I have my ATV I'll park at the boat ramp and if ice conditions are good I may head straight across the lake to the west side. If I'm walking I'll park at the old highway.

The best bait varies greatly. Typically, I prefer perch eyes on a gold jig, but Friday they wouldn't touch a perch eye. Had to have a night crawler on there or they didn't seem to like it. Orange was the hot color Friday.

If you see my out there stop by and say Hi. I drive a white ford extended cab that needs a car was badly and has a tool box in the back. My ATV is yellow. It's looking like I'll be out there with 1 other guy at this point.

I thought you were going to be there yesterday? I never saw you, although I was watching.

I wasn't there Saturday, but those I know who were said it was okay.

I fished from sun up until sun down yesterday. We brought home 18 perch and a trout. We released a few, but not a lot. The size yesterday was pretty small for Cascade. I think we only had 3 over 12 inches and a few of the ones we kept were under 10, but we kept them anyway cause they were caught in water over 25 feet and the swim bladders were in their mouths.

BTW, dress warm. It was very cold. About -1 or so when we headed out and probably about 5 when we were headed back.

Ice was still marginal in a few places and slushy in others. That should go away quickly, though.
