Went to Mackay Res today with my kids. The ice was good, at least 12", between the dam and the campground. The fishing was slow, we only caught 1 small kokanee (10") and had 6 or 8 other bites. We fished from about 11:30 to almost 3:30 with red tube jigs and wax worms. The weather was decent and mostly calm until the last hour when there was a steady breeze that made it really cold. There were only 3 other groups of people that we could see. Talked to one guy and his 2 buddies that brought the first ice house for the season. They caught a couple kokanees in the 6-8" range. It was still a good day being with the kids.
Welcome to the forum. I have had my best luck using pink for kokes. Curt G.
