Has EC iced over yet?
Anyone fishing on it?
I just moved to Morgan and I'm a bit anxious to get out there...
But I'm very cautious of the ice.[

Thanx,

Welcome to the site Jozensg. Since you live so close to East canyon you could make the drive up there and let us know how it looks? The back side, close to the resort is where the ice usually freezes first. If you see anyone fishing on the ice, that is always a good sign.

I took a drive up there today and there is no ice yet. I stopped and talked at the ranger station and they said that on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day while it was snowing in the valleys, it was only raining up there at the reservoir. They don't expect safe ice for another 15 days minimum. It was the same story about 3 years ago, we couldn't get on East Canyon until Jan. 20th! But we slaughtered them that year. Also, he told me that the water level is the lowest it has ever been since the new dam was built sometime in the 1950's.

thanks for the report. Can't wait for it to freeze. I love that place in the Winter.

Theyre not kidding its low. I was hoping that would help it freeze faster!

Well it capped yesterday...
I was told the Lodge end has 5 inches of ice on it. The center looks like it just froze, there are still cracks that look like streams running from on side to the other in several areas of the reservoir.
There were people ice fishing in the coves and the Lodge end. I didn't get to talk to anyone who was out there fishing New Years Day... boy is it low! [

Thanks so much for the update George. Someone said it is as low as it has been in 50 years. I sure hope we get a good water year or that place will be empty by next fall.[frown]
