Got a bright and early start to the new year, was on the ice at 730 fished jigs and crawlers ended up with 17 trout and a bunch of small perch. the bite slowed way down around 11 switched to trout nibbles and kept a few interested. sure was cold almost had to fire up the heater to keep the pop unfrozen [laugh]. ice was 7 to 8 inches and there were snowmobiles and 4 wheelers out on the ice. had a blast but some of those 3 inch perch sure hate jawjackers

Went out this morning and I have the exact same report. Some of the trout were 20 inches. Good Times. Anybody catching anything at Walcott?

I heard it was slow today guys fishing next to me today said they fished all day and caught one by the powerhouse. Almost thought about going up there tomorrow but i think maybe magic as fishing was super slow today at Oakley [frown]

We were using all the usual baits, but worms were the ticket. My biggest came on a copper pimple with a piece of worm jigged slow.

Made it over there again today lots of people sleds 4 wheelers running around enough to almost worry about your poles getting ran over [Sad] fishing was great from 7 to 10 then kinda died off to just the occasional fish. did catch my first brown threw the ice tho [cool] and just as i was leaving a whole flock of quail ran across the road in front of me by the lodge must been 50. caught most today on tubes and minnow jigs

I was there too on saturday by myself. I have never been there before and I've never fished with so many people around me. I caught 9 trout nothing big 12 to 16inch. All on different jigs but they had to be tipped with a worm. Anything tipped with a mean worm caught nothing even with the perch. I'm new to ice fishing so I don't know if that helps anyone. It seemed a little jigging helped catch more trout and the bigger perch. I went up there to catch perch and was a little disapponted at the size. I brought home 6 that were around 8 inch. I caught a lot in the 3 to 4 inch range. I was fishing in 8feet of water 100 yards off what I think is the boat dock. I would tell you what to use but for me anything worked just had to have a worm. The fishing died even with the perch around 3 for me. However, just before dark I did catch 2 more trout.

Thats my second brown i caught one this summer trolling Im thinking if a guy went up around that bend you were at the water gets much deeper.

That was kinda my findings too as long as it had worm it caught fish. I didnt have very many perch tho this time and that was kind of a plus as last time there was tons of tiny perch
