Sorry for the late post. I know it won't be of any help now that it is closed but some of you might get a laugh at my expense!.
Yesterday I took my neighbor and his 13 year old son to Henrys. It was there 1st time to Henrys and there 1st time on the hard deck. I was nervous that they wouldn't like it but they had fun. The weather was decent and we all caught fish. My neighbors son ended up doing the best catching 7 fish and 1 brookie around 4lbs. He is a natural. He never missed a bite when he was jigging. It was pretty cool.
Now for the part that almost ruined the trip because of my stupidity! I put new blades on the auger right before our trip. I put them on in a hurry and never tried them out before going to Henrys.
When we got up there yesterday morning I totally forgot and we walked a long ways across the lake all by ourselves. I fired up the auger and soon became very Confused as to why it was just spinning and not cutting! I couldn't figure out how brand new blades could be so dull.
I shut her down and turned it over to take a look and quickly noticed the problem. I put the blades on upside down! Please tell me I am not the only dummy who has done this! Luckily there were a few holes that were not froze over too bad so I broke them out so my friends could fish.
After I got them set up I went for a walk and found a gentleman a little closer than walking clear to my truck that had a pair of pliers. WIth the pliers and my leatherman I got them turned over and was ready to go.
I then found out how awesome new blades are when you put them on right!
Hope this might save someone else from doing the same thing. Sorry I haven't posted for a long time. I will try to do better. I haven't been fishing forever.

lol we have all done something similar glad everyone enjoyed it and sounds like it was a real nice brookie [cool] Just a thought i know all augers can have problems from time to time and worse case if you had a ice chisel or spud l it could have saved the trip if the auger ever doesn't start, there also great for catching weak ice.
