Well as every one knows it has been pretty darn cold as of latley, I had the fishing bug bad and the closest place was the river so I decided to go.check it out. And my best spot for browns was frozen solid all the way accros for about half a mile to 3/4 of a mile of the section. Ice on the river was about 3" thick in some spots. So I moved to another spot I thought would be better and I was wrong thought because of the falls and the swifter water it would be open. But I was wrong, the water falls were frozen over also. I found a couple spots I could cast. It was a tropical heat wave @ -3 when I got to the spot. Frozen wiskers for me.. Threw all my typical lures fished them fast medium slow high mid depth and deep with no success to be had. But on the positive note. I spent the Christmas break cleaning and polishing my reel and rod. Put some of my favorite line on and boy does it cast oh so smooth. I also had a little bit of withdraws going ad I tails to purchase my 2013 licenses. But I have them as of yesterday. I was going crazy knowing I couldnt go throw a line or go hunt some coyotes any time I wanted.

Thanks for the report. Nice that you got out, but bad luck that you had a hard time finding any open water or fish. Is the river frozen through Lava too?

I am not sure. Havnt even looked at it. I live right next to the river just out side of town its at the end of my field. But havnt even looked. Funny thing is, is that right below my field is a pretty good spot. Just havnt looked recently. Im sure closer to where the hot springs flow into the river the water is open and probably ok for fishing to. Im going to have to check it out tomorrow.
