No snowmobiles allowed on winter elk refuges.

Fished from 8 to noon, east of the boat dock in the first big draw, Slush was terrible within 25 yds of the shore. Only iced 3, a nice koke (which was not schooled up), a pretty rainbow, and a sucker. I may need to hook up with someone to show me the ropes at Ririe, so far not doing so hot.

get at least a 100yrds into the main lake kokes like pink . if you dont have a flasher set your poles with one 3-12-16-20-25 feet down.when you get a hit stay with that pole and jig it .when you catch one get him off as fast as you can and get the jig back in the hole.dont rebait untill there gone.if you try to rebait or run from one pole to the other you might catch one by staying with one pole and jigging the kokes will some times swarm the hole and you can see them.sometimes when you catch the first one the school will follow it to the hole.If you fish to close to shore youll catch more trout and suckers.if you ask most of the people on the ice willl show and telll.the regulars are a pretty nic bunch hope this helps[

Thanks for the info. You are right, the regulars have been good to talk to. Sure seems like guys like to set up right on top of that island each time I've been there. One old timer was referring to the far east end near the line as "perch water", do people seem to catch more perch near the boundary line?

a couple guys catch them there some on the west side by the floating dock some by the island i havent got a good handle on the perch usedto catch them just off the dam but havent tried in years

fished ririe yesterday on 1-11.
landed trout first thing in the morning. moved to Island area...various schools showed up on flasher but could not land any fish...only a couple times did i feel a bite. it was frustrating to see so many schools swim by and no takes. using a small pink swedish pimple tipped with meal worms.
I'm think my flasher was seeing a cloud of krill and not fish?[crazy]
my neibors on ice also pickuping the schools at same depths with no takers.

Those are probably the fast moving 1 year old fish which would be about 4 to 5" long. When you see those small fish on the screen drop to the bottom of the school and you may find some larger fish protecting the belly of the herd.

Are you sure you mean east of the dock? That would put you onto the shore if you went more that 20 feet from looking at a map. Do you mean sore SSE? That would be along shore away from the dam.

Yes. Away frrom the dam.
