Full Version: Is the spillway open for fishing at CJ Strike?

Idaho Power closed the dam for fishing back in early April and was originally supposed to reopen it at the end of June. Last time I went up there around October, it was still closed. Anyone know if it is open yet?

What makes me really annoyed is they supposedly closed it for "fish monitoring" like they did in 2011. That spring they had a big trailer parked out on the walkway for weeks. I drive down Simco Road, so I go past the dam every time I go to Strike and not once did I ever see their equipment out on the walkway last year. They basically kept it closed for months for no reason.

No one has been by the dam lately?

I'd like to go down there to jig for perch, but I'm not going to make the drive if I can't get out on the walkway.

No idea about the spillway but the entire bruneau arm is covered in 8-10" of ice. Lots of perch to be had

Unfortunately, I don't own any ice fishing equipment.

If anyone has the equipment and wouldn't mind a fishing buddy joining them, I'd love to give it a try.

Closed as of last Thursday. Nothing going on whatsosever. I have no idea why it's closed.

Well, I emailed the Statesman about the closure. Maybe they can get an answer from Idaho Power for their outdoor blog.
