Chill day out Hyrum way. Ice was a good 4-5 inches of clear with several more frozen slush on top, then a few inches of gush topped with fluffy snow. Made sled pulling that much more a chore. Especially with out the pack mules at work. Lots of sleds and wheelers bopping abouts.

Instead of following the beaten path, I embarked on a perch search - heading directly south for deeper water. Best I got to was 35 ft. Tried several spots, and found trout cruising through at the 10-15 foot range most everywhere. Even had some passes up close to the ice - tried some sight fishing as they swiped my jig.

caught loads of planter bows, found a few with some shoulders to 'em, kept a 'set' for the homestead. Never found the school, but did get to tutor a few perch, and decent running about 8". The best trout were 13-14, while a schlew of bitty bows bounced the ice.

Landed probable 30-40 fish over the day. I wouldn't say the bite ever dropped off, but some holes were hotter than others.

Stayed way to long, and the one day I didn't bring the heater- shoulda! It was cold cold! Done frosted my fishes. Sorry - didn't take the whole picture-story. But here's my frosty basket:

I managed to find some perch. Brought 9 home. Left all the bows there for someone else to play with next time. Cold day, for sure. I caught many more dinks today than we did the last few times. I probably ended up landing about 35 total fish or so.

Same here...nothing picture worthy, lots of dinky planters and no perch. Slow day overall for Chris and I, but it was fun getting out. It was actually nice when the sun came out of the clouds.

Hit hyrum today too. Did pretty good.

Nice job on the perch. We must have just been in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Good to know the fish 'woke up' by afternoon time.

I also hit Hyrum today. Didn't get any of those tasty perch. I had my best success for trout in 19ft of water.

Plenty of 4-wheelers and snow mobiles out there.

Plenty more today. Ice had a good solid 4-5 clear topped with inches of frozen sluch - then sets into the snow//slush above..... Cold as it is- what I was trumping into yesterday was solid today.

Fishing was good for bows, still searching for a good perching!
I was out there on friday, ended up finding the perchies and a buttload of planter bows, some not to shabby, biggest about 17 inches, the bows anyways. Ended up with roughly 70 fish for the day. Probably the best perchin I've had there for a while as far as size in numbers go. They're there Yote don't give up the search![inline "pan O perch.jpg"]
