I found this video online this afternoon and I thought it was certainly worth posting. I was surprised at several of the recommendations - all ice fisherman should watch this video!

With newly frozen waters in our area (PaliSades, American Falls, etc.) I think this is particularly valuable! Let's stay safe out there!

Great information as far as keeping your head and not panicking thru the first stage. I plan to keep it in the memory and also the kick out makes sense. Thanks for the post and stay safe everyone.

Just remember its not as easy as some of those guys have it in the dry suits and survival suits. They provide buoyancy with air trapped inside or material that wants to float. some ice safety can start as soon as you leave home By selecting proper outerwear. waterproof pants and jackets Not water resistant like most walls and carhartt coveralls. The best is a float suit if ya have an option to get one

Your words are so true, it is what you wear and how (avid fish) you say calm. Gave my carhartt to a coworker for work after falling through. The carhartt's and my old snowboard boots absorbed more than half my weight. I give my thanks to my mom for swimming lessons and survival swimming. As kids my sisters and I , rode big wheel into a pool (in winter clothes) and had to be able not to panic but tread water for ten minutes. BEST ADVICE ICE FLOATS USE IT. I pushed it under me to level me out and popped out like a seal. I will never be on a four wheeler while crossing an ice buckle, no matter how thick the ice.(11" of ice)

stay save and be prepared,
Icesore
