Was up on Fish Lake Tuesday and fishing thru about 12 inches of ice. The entire lake surface shifted and threw up a pressure ridge between us and the shore. Kind of spooky! We had to find a safe crossing over the break. The two photos show the extent of the ridge running each direction from where we crossed over.

There wasn't that much snow on the hills - maybe a foot or so. On the ice only a couple inches. We fished on the west end of the lake initially and were getting a few bites and never did land anything. When we moved to this area where the ice shifted, we didn't get anything. Then we moved back to the west end and were getting hit quite often but it turned out to be small perch. I managed to land one bugger that must have been at least 4 inches long. We ended up moving to Otter Creek on Wednesday and did pretty well there.
Like so:

Crazy cool pics but I would have needed a change of pants. Too bad the fish didn't cooperate but bets are you still won't be forgetting that trip anytime soon....

Out on the ice one time when a section about 200 yards long by about 15 feet wide collapsed under water. Same as a pressure ridge, but instead of the ice buckling up, it buckled under. It left a puddle on top. We left as soon as we got our wits back.
