Fishing has completely died for us any help would be great, haven't had a bite for about an hour now, on the south side of cemetery point

Yesterday, when the bite died, guys with flasher units said that the perch carpet on the bottom had vanished - and one large fish swam through. The guess was a tiger muskie on the prowl. Perch showed up again after a while, though.

Did the catching turn back on?

Oh yeah if we would have kept all the fish we would have limited out, we ended up moving closer to shore, but a foot deeper. Dropped a ratfinky with earth worm on it to the bottom reeled up about 1"-12" and nailed the perch. Saw a tiger swim just under the ice past our holes, it was awesome. Wish I had my go pro with me recording, looked to be about 36"+ ended up leaving after the sun disappeared. Great day to be out fishing, warmed up nicely.

We were the first ones on the ice on the south side of cemetery this morning. -8 when we walked on the ice. Got set up in 28 feet of water and the catchin began. As long as you were within the bottom 12" you caught fish. Kept a dozen to munch on. Caught triple that. All smaller end. Had a nice big mud cat swimming around under our holes. Kinda funny. Left the ice around 1100 and it was 3 degrees.

Didn't matter what we put down there, used perch eyes or waxes, both worked well. I did notice that they wanted it moving today. just give it a little jig, they would hammer you.

No crappies. Thought there would be more folks on the ice today than there was. However with everything froze up, lots of places to fish and spread out.

Nice report Mark, sounds like a good day on the ice. I figured there would be 100's of people up there with all the good reports. I guess I was wrong, I think you are right too many places to go, with all these cold temps.

Crappies are too small this year. Not a lot of people after them unless you know where to go[Wink]. Perch are mostly dinky as well. That might be a reason no one is up there.

Well said crappie rangler. Trout fishing this year is also producing some some nice fish through the ice for anglers braving the brutal cold temps as of late.

Can anyone fill me in if they are charging a fee to park up there in the winter right now?

They are not.

Thanks!

[quote RILEYFISH] Rgt at era little jig, they would hammer you.

Could you translate this for me?

lol, it meant to say give it a little jig and they would hit it. between fat fingers, auto correct on a ipad, and a cocktail while reading and posting, strange things happen. good luck to you.
