The Warrior Princess and I hit the Nelle yesterday. We fished North of Hailstone and enjoyed a really nice day on the ice. Fishing was steady from 9:00 until 1:30 for average to small perch and 14" rainbows. We ended up with enough 9 to 10" perch for a dinner and the rest will become chowder. Kept 3 chunky bows for the smoker. Lost a monster largemouth at the hole. 4# micro ice line was not enough. Ice was 10 to 12" thick and the area we set up in had about 2 to 3" of slush and water. Air temp at 9 was 9* and it was 38 when we left at 3. Perch were puking up perch minnows and appeared to be well fed. This might explain the absence of any true toads in the 12" range. All fish were caught on a #8 green Rat Finkey 12" above a #4 purple gemn eye flutter jig tipped with eyeball or meat. Actually just a hook drop shot rigged with perch meat would probably worked as well.
