I realize that many of you enjoy ice fishing. More power to you. I used to ice fish, and enjoyed it. However, the older I got, the more I enjoyed warm temperatures and snuggling to the wood stove in the winter. Last year I caught my first smallie from the Snake River on January 28th.
Today, I took a drive to Marsing to take a look at the river.

Hmmmm. I don't think I'll be fishing for a few days.
How cold is it? Colder than the ice on a coot's butt.

Sorry you have lost your interest in ice fishing, I'm in my mid 60's and still look forward to a few months of it every year. Clothing has gotten so much better to keep you warm than we had when I was a kid growing up in Northern Wis. following along behind dad ice fishing. I use to have to put newspapers around my feet inside an oversized pair of the old black buckle boots to keep my feet warm, seems like my feet still got colder than hell, [:/]but I guess I must have enjoyed it cause I went when ever Pops would take me. Boy I can remember when Pop built an 8 X 8 framed shanty with card board walls and a floor with a little wood burning stove, man we were in heaven then, lots of good times[cool]. Pop is 85 and is still going strong back in Wis. he gets out ice fishing 2 to 3 times a week.[

I hear you. Pretty much the whole month of January has been highs in the single digits and lows well below 0 where I live. I've never had trouble with freezing pipes until this year. I'm not looking forward to my gas bill either [mad]
I'm hoping that the coming storms will at least blow out this nasty inversion. I'm sick of ice fog. Blah.
On a more positive note, I'm getting some molds and a blending block for my birthday, so when spring finally rolls around, I'll have a bunch of cool jerkbaits and craws to throw at the bass, and it gives me something fishing related to do while it's frozen solid outside. Hopefully it will get me through the winter.
