I'm heading out to causey tomorrow. Never fished it through the ice but I've always had bad luck there in the summer. Anyone fished it recently or have any tips or know what I should try to get into a few trout or kokes? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! (Pm's are ok too!)

3 of us fished there a few weekends ago, we fished in 20ft of water. Caught lots of small rainbows right off the bottom. Used small jigs tipped with butter worms. Let your line fit the bottom then lift it up slow and bam fish on. All bows where between 3” to 8” caught one kokanee that was 12” off a blue jig tipped with butter worm. The butter worms are like a wax worm, a little bigger and orange in color. The only place that I found that sells them is Wal-Mart

Thanks for the info! Seems like the Kokanee are a bit harder to catch from what I've been hearing.

So we made it out to the lake this morning and did really well! We got on the lake at about 7:00 am and got two nice Kokes right away. After that it slowed down a little bit so we moved around and tried a bunch of different spots and then at about 1:00 we found another hot spot. We caught another 4 Kokes and all the little rainbows we could pull up. When people told me the rainbows were small they weren't kidding. Most of them were only about 4-7" but we did manage a couple nicer ones. Also while looking down the hole and watching the schools of tiny rainbows swarm our jigs we saw a monster brown cruise through. Hard to judge through the ice but it looked like it had to be around 3-4 pounds. I was really happy with how we did for our first time ice fishing there, we will definitely be back!

First time for us too, iced 6 bows 12-14" in the afternoon. Used a 3" white pepper speckled tube jig tipped with wax worms a few feet off the bottom

Nice! I probably saw you out there, we were the first ones on the lake and one of the last ones to leave haha.

Nice report and pics Jordan, thanks for posting your results. You did very well for your first time at Causey. How deep were the Kokes you were catching?

We caught the first two out in the middle in about 90' of water and the fish were suspended around 45'. After that we fished in 36' of water and caught fish everywhere between about 25-10'. The water was so clear that at one point we could just look down the hole and see the schools of tiny rainbows swimming below and watch them take our jigs.

Awesome, that is so cool when the water is so clear, thanks for the info.

Where did you catch those kokes at. I have always wanted to catch one anywhere, but never have caught one in my life. I have lived in utah my whole life(11 years) and never caught one.
