In looking at their catalog, the shrimp foil they have now doesn't stretch either. Bummer. NIce looking colors...

A Crap Carp Fly. Well ain't that the sh*t!

I've used it quite a bit on the provo and had success. I think it works a little better on waters that see a lot of pressure. The picture you have posted is a little thicker than I like to tie mine. There are several you tube video's on how to tie this fly. For Utah waters I like to tie mine on the mustad hook 37160 from sizes 6 to 12. I think the slimmer profile and the flashback help. One of the problems I've ran into is that the latex material dries out after a few uses so you might want to try coating it with some Sally Hansens Hard as Nails to see if that helps. You can also use a white condom to imitate a crane fly larva which is great to use in high water/spring runoff times. They don't take a long time to tie and because of the weight at the bottom of the fly it usually just skips along the bottom of the river hook up and doesn't get snagged all too often. Overall I think its a great fly to use in rivers that get more pressure, such as any piece of running water in Utah. Another piece of advice is to pinch the barb down so the hook is easier to remove. If you have to use forceps to remove the fly it will damage the latex pretty easily. I usually just leave a 1/4 inch section near the butt of the fly just in case.

As far as the UV Chewee skin I just started tying with that and the amount of sparkle it puts off is significant. I havent fished with it yet but it seems like an alternative and is also easy to tie with. The UV skin is pretty stretchy so you can make the fly as thick or thin as you want, however i believe that you will run into the same issue with the Latex mentioned above that once forceps touch it the fly will be ruined. I tried coating the UV skin with the Hard as Nails and it seems to eat at the plastic so maybe use some standard head cement to help make the fly more durable.
