I generally like to toss around a Blk-n-Gld Rapalla. I find though (lower Provo anyway[unimpressed]) you can catch fish with just about any color. I find my biggest success when I use:

Blk-n-Gld (seal) 5-9g sinker

Blu-n-Wht (old blue) 5-9g sinker

Lime-n-Wht (limey) 5-9g sinker

These work for me in any level of water with any amout of moss. I do of course use Spider Wire. On avg. I pull out 19 - 25 inch Browns. I've had other anglers question my use of the Rapala, but it's a very effective way to river fish.

My theory is: On the Provo (or any other river), The Browns are naturally competitive with other fish and very elusive. I believe they are very territorial in the sense that they will become aggressive with any size fish that enters their eddie (I once pulled a cutthroat from the Buffalo river. It took my Rapala even though the rapala was no bigger than the fish).

I like to spin fish because I can get to just about anywhere I want. I can fish year around under any kind of weather conditions. It almost feels like I'm hunting the fish. I like to climb over fallen trees and wade up to my chest just to get to that spot that I'm 95% sure a fish is waiting. I fish up stream down stream, sideways, ontop of rocks, under trees, and even off the bank from time to time. I like to add colors to my lures and even put my own designs on them. I think to my self "it will fake the fish out...they've seen a million rapalas, but none like this (even though it's all bullshit anyway[angelic]). Man... I need to get out and go fishing (still haven't gone yet since my last post. Ah hell, maybe I'm just venting....[pirate]

Hey there SuperMonster,

Welcome to BFT from further west. It's amazing the number of world records that have been caught with Rapalas over the years. If it ain't broke........

Thanks for the info on the Lime. Green has really been a hot color here on the so cal saltwater scene this last season for saltwater bass. Actually Red Hot!

Again Welcome,
