Fish near the bottom, your bait should be not much over 6-8 inches off the bottom. I usually use an attractor such as a castmaster or sweedish pimple with an 8-10 dropper with a small ice fly, ratfinke or something similar. Tip the ice fly with bait (wax worms, night crawler, perch meat or perch eyes). Sometimes they prefer dead stick but usually I do a small jigging motion. Many times the perch will be deep in 35-45 feet of water but this year there are a lot being caught shallower than that. Almost any place you can acces the deeper water is good, cemetary point , the narrows, browning point. Hope this helps, good luck and let us know how you do on the next trip

A spring bobber or extremely sensitive tip is a must or you won't even know you got a bite.

After you catch your first perch(always the hardest thing to do). Take a pocket knife and take the eye out and put it on your hook. Give them the evil perch eye and you will not be able to keep them off your hook.
