Hi there, it's going to be my first time ice fishing, and I want to catch brown trout. Our local pond is stocked every year with 4,000 trout of assorted sizes, I have staked out the pond already, and have found the holes that the old timers use, and I want to give it a try, what do I need for bait, and a set up? The pond is fairly shallow, at only 10-25 ft deep, and is fished pretty hard by the locals. Please get back to me with all you know.

it helps to have several lines out. depending on your local regulations.
you can get them on tipups using minnow
you can get them jigging with wax worm or minow
for tipups small trebles work well, single barb hooks are just fine if trebbles are not allowed in your area.
any thing from small tear drop jig to small swedish pimples will work for trout though the ice.
a simple set line from your rod with a #6 or smaler hook with a minnow will work as well.
most of the old timers around my area like the pimple tipped with a minnow for trout and cisco.
