Full Version: The Gorge NOT for Burbot?

My ugly sister and I are looking to fish tomorrow somewhere up at the Gorge, however, we don't particularly want to be with all the Bash crowds. I've looked around, but I'm just not sure I understand how all of Bash things work. Is there a main marina or access point that most of the festivities are going to be held at? Or is it a lake-wide event that has check points, etc?

We simply want to avoid crowds -- is that even possible tomorrow? I'll give 17 kisses and I'll have ol' Ugly here throw in another dozen to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

Muchos Grab Ass,

TBD.

Linwood Bay has ice, and I don't think the Burbot guys fish in there too much, at least I don't see 'em. Not sure about thickness, safety, or any of that, but the back half in particular has been frozen for weeks. There were guys on some ice in Swim Beach yesterday too, right next to the open water! Don't go to Sheep Creek, that ice comes and goes with the winds, and was gone yesterday.

I was going to respond with what little I know, but then I read the promised reward. You want to avoid crowds, I want to avoid physical affection from strangers. [Tongue]

Go during the day. Were I fishing the bash, it would be all nighters and sleeping during the day.

Dave are you guys ice fishing or gonna bring a boat? I am all loaded up to head that way this afternoon. But we dont have Wyoming fishing licensees and were looking to ice fish the Utah side of the gorge. Not sure where to go myself or what our plan is yet. Best of luck to you guys this weekend.

We're going to be on the hard deck. It sounds like the Bash is lake-wide, so we're just going to have to deal with crowds. Over 500 people signed up so far it looks like, which is awesome!

Good luck to you too man, be safe.

Net surveys in November put most burbot on the northern 1/3 of the pond, and that is probably where most bashers will be fishing. If you can find safe ice anywhere south of marsh creek you will have a good chance of avoiding them. I have no idea where safe ice currently is located, so be safe.

Is there still water on the utah side? And can you still launch if there is?

Cedar Springs and Mustang Ridge are the only launches open.

Have you herd of any for sure good ice on the Utah side Ryno? Thanx

Ice in Linwood, Antelope Flat, Stateline, etc. not sure how thick but I've seen a few anglers on it. There's open water in the main lake north of Lucerne point that is just getting bigger with all of the warmth and wind.
