I'm fairly new to Las vegas fishing. I am mostly experienced with deep sea as well as sport tuna fishing. I have been down to Lake Mead to shore fish off of 33 Hole a few times with very little luck. I would appreciate any tips on rigs and good lures/plastics to use.

I recently came upon a paddle boat so if anyone has good suggestions on the best dock to push off of as well as any good spots to try out I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the site Josh, sorry I can't help you with your questions but maybe one of the other guys can on this board. Also try reading some of the older post a few pages back.

Also, BassPro has the Cotton Cordell lipless cranks on sale for 1.97 right now. Just ordered 5 in various colors/sizes. I purchased online, but I think the price is good in-store as well. http://www.basspro.com/Cotton-Cordell-Su...uct/44610/

I own a house in Vegas andgo down there at least very other month. I have met some great people down there and talked to some about fishing Lake Mead. Most will tell you it's a hard lake to learn and for sure fishing from shore will be a hit and miss situation. Almost need a boat to move around the lake on. I'm more of a stripper fisherman when they are available. Lake mead has a good population of them with many in the 4 to 7 pound range.
Good luck and maybe next time I'm down there I'll look you up.

[cool]Welcome to the board. You will find alot of knowledge here. I fish mainly from a floattube and have been able to find the fish on almost every outing. All the shoreline around Vegas wash is great for lmb, smb, and stripers. I carry my tube down and kick all over. With a paddle boat you may want to launch from Government wash;less of a hike.
As far as baits and lures just about anything that resembles a shad will work. Also crawdad baits will work. Alot of soft plastics will catch fish here as well. If you go thru the past posts you will get more info. Good luck out there and maybe I will see you on the water.

Hey, thank you all for your replies. I spent the weekend on Saturday and Sunday trying to get bites, no luck yet. I must have been wearing the wrong color of socks. I have a smaller rowboat that I took out on Saturday shoving off at Callville Bay and just fished around the shores. I did get a lot of bites when I was using swim baits but my line was pretty cheap and quick to break.

On Sunday I fished off of the shore at 33 Hole for a few hours and just ended up losing too many of my lures. Hopefully next weekend will be better.
