What has possessed someone to place the very annoying MinnKota pop-up ads on some of the BFT pages? I have been trying to send some PMs and the darn ads are blocking most of the upper screen area.
I'd rather look at the half-nekked girl lying on her side than to have the electric motor ads block my access to the entry lines.
Mods......is there anything that can be done to reduce the conflicts? I know the ads pay for the website, but it's getting very annoying and I believe others have had the same trouble.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big MinnKota fan and I've owned several over the years. These ads might make me look at Motorguide next time.[:p]

AMEN BROTHER.
Getting real tired of that one.

+1. The pop-ups are enough to almost stop me from wanting to log on. Sure glad there are some zero-add sites. Don't get me wrong, this is a great info spot, but at what sacrifice?

I am so glad you put this post up. I went to a few computers just thinking it was just mine. Love MinnKota's but sick of this add covering what I want to read. Hope something will get done soon.

I just reported the problem.

Thanks Curt. Maybe we'll see some action on the ads. I think they could just move them enough to uncover the links we have to use and still have their content visible.
See you on Friday at about 0800 at Indian Bay.

Hello Guys,
The MinKota ad should not automatically pop out. It should only pop out when you put your mouse over it. Are you actually seeing the ad "pop out" or "up" without mousing over it?

Download the google Chrome web browser and then use the add-on application "AdBlock." It will change your life! [

] You can set it so virtually no ads will ever bother you on BFT again.

[cool][#0000FF]Yes. I think it is a proximity sensor rather than a mouseover. It pops up a lot of times when I am typing a response and not even using the mouse. Far too eager to take over your screen.

Hello Pat,
Thank you for the heads up, we will look into it further.
Just FYI regarding the ad blockers, that's largely responsible for the people that complain about too slow of load time, so you are really trading one problem for another.

That may be true, Mike, but I run Firefox with AdBlock Plus in Win 7 and all the pages here load in under two seconds - usually under one. No pop ups, either.
While I understand and even approve of the website selling ad space, that does not obligate me to view them.

Glad to hear it doen't slow things down for you. Maybe it's better than the average ad blocker. I just know that many of them cause problems with the site, hence causing us a little grief. I'm not a fan, for obvious reasons, but also because they are many out there that are more trouble than thier worth.

Mike,
It's also happening every time I get on I have 3 or 4 that block me from being able to read and reply. HELP?! Thanks

[cool][#0000FF]I also have Windows 7 and Firefox. But I backed out of the adblocker because it would not let me view videos on YouTube and other sites.
But most of the problems I had with Explorer were solved by Firefox...and I have had to do some workarounds to accomplish other things.

TD, I rarely watch embedded videos, but when I do and AdBlock won't let me, I simply disable it for that page on a one-time basis.

hey thanks mike you fix it thanks glen

For those who use the Mozilla Firefox browser, you can get a pop up blocker that has been 100% effective for me.
