My family and I headed over to the mother-land last weekend to visit friends and ice fish SE Idaho. Thanks to those of you who provided advice and reports, it was really helpful.
We fished Chesterfield on Saturday and it was decent but not great. I probably iced thirty or so rainbows but they may have all been the same 12 inch fish
except for one 17 incher. I didn't get any worth taking pics of anyway. I did manage to get one of those really awesome raccoon sunburns since I had sunglasses on. It looked pretty sweet...
The next day we decided to do some exploring and try some new spots. fishing was lousy. I saw a few fish on the Marcum, but they wouldn't seal the deal. Everybody else we talked to there had similar success. I did however manage one bite and after an unenthusiastic fight, up came the biggest Utah sucker I've ever seen! I was sure I had the state record, but we found a scale back in Pocatello and it turned out to be 7.25 lbs, about a half pound shy
I know it's no glamor fish, but I was still excited to catch such a big one!

-and yes, my arms are shamelessly straight to make the fish look bigger [laugh]
I don't handle slow fishing days well, so with about a half day left we decided to head down to Montpelier just to catch something. And we did. We each caught a whole herd of 5-8 inch perch. It was just like Robert's Gravel Pond except they were just a tad bigger. Shortly after we got there I caught a perch with a misshapen head and a severe under-bite. I didn't think too much of it until right before we left, up came the goofy fish with the under-bite again! It made me wonder how many other ones I caught twice, but couldn't tell!
