I caught my firs Idaho Steelhead yesterday. I fished a secret rock which is no secret at all to Southforkers and caught my first steelhead on a black Jig 1/8 ounce with a touch of yellow on it below a bober. See Pic. From my observations passing other anglers thw whole system seems to be fishing pretty good from slightly above lewiston to clear creek on the main stem and up to the lower 10 miles or so of the south fork. Everybody seems to be catching fish, I've been bank fishing all season on the lower river with little success. Many tactics used, none with confidence as untill yesterday I was Steelheadless since moving home from the coast where my passion for the elusive devils began. My brother got one on the lower Clearwater about two weeks ago. Water is COLD! Saw a couple fish I didn't get into. Hope that helps Just thought I'd put the info out there as I love a good report. Anyone fish for Springers on the S.F.? When Can I expect them to start arriving in numbers?
