The edges are going fast on both!
My son and I headed up to Echo first thing this morning. Couldn't really find a good place to get on the ice. Stood on shore and lobbed big rocks over about 6' of open water, and had some breaking through about 8 feet out. This was a ways south of the marina ramp. Looked like maybe there were a couple of places farther north to get on with a plank, but we passed and went to Rockport instead. Same story, only not quite as bad. Several places to get on, but we still planked over 3' of open water. There are a few spots you can still step over. Very muddy shorelines and slippery hiking down! Ice still plenty thick, at least 16". But over the next few days I expect access to become very difficult. Fished for 3 hours targeting perch but iced 4 bows. One was an 18 incher. Bows were suspended from 6' - 20' down over 35 FOW.
