Each year the Challis Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors a really cool Steelhead Derby & Ball. A lot of people don't know about it unless they are from the area. There'e real money involved. First place winners get $100, second place $75 and third place $50. They do a cool raffle for a Hyde Contender drift boat and trailer for $50 a ticket and they only sell 50 tickets. That's danged good odds for one of these types of big ticket raffles. Anyway, we did an article on it. Be sure to scroll down and look at the length of each steelhead that was a winner during the past four years. Looks like they've not had a fish 36 inches of longer. It's a real interesting Derby.

Awesome looking derby. I've fished that area for a long time and have only caught a few that would go 36 inches or bigger. They are there though.
