A solo bass trip turned into a crappie trip to Wolftever Creek. I got started bass fishing a little after noon today but didn't really produce any results. I threw spinnerbaits, crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps - only one small bass to show for it in a couple of hours. I decided to run to Wolftever Creek where I haven't fished all year to see if I couldn't find a few crappie. I guess I'm tired of looking at the same points and rocks even though the fishing is still good where I've been fishing. I didn't have much gas so I didn't go past Rabbit Island. Water temperature was 59 degrees and touched 60 in a spot or two ! It was windy even in the creek. I caught 12 crappie in a little over an hour on a couple of blow downs but most of my fish were a couple of hundred yards out in front of Rabbit Island where I've caught fish in the past. I caught a lot of fish in 7-8 ft. of water. I'll take it for my first trip there this year and I'm thinking that's where I'll be making my next few trips. I just need to get back into the swing of things there - I always enjoy fishing Wolftever. Here's a pic of a white I caught. The white crappie population seems to be great this year.
