Took the grandkids down below the dam Saturday morning to check it out. Threw out a few morts, lost some gear and saw a real nice (8+) fish caught from a boat. You can bet your booties I'll be heading back real soon with Gertrude. I had forgotten how hard it is to fish from the bank, seemed we were on the wrong side of the river. I can see why the Boise guys are pretty tight lipped about the place.

I could not believe the amount of trash laying around, come on folks this belongs to all of us, no wonder access gets limited or denied. I'm a recovering alcoholic and was hauling around beer cans and empty whiskey bottles. Tight lines. . . . Dale Smile

Hey Dale, I saw your invite the other day but have been super busy rigging jet skis for fishing...didn't go Saturday but I did take my son yesterday...there were people playing in the water at our hole and making a racket...plus the four boats blasting thru didn't help im sure...we didn't get squat from 1:30 to 5...but about a half hour after all the noise makers left I set a new personal best for Sturgeon...my line is all shredded and I'm surprised it didn't break with this monster on the hook...bent the crap outta my hook though...ended up catching this beauty with two carloads and some bank guys watching...kinda fun to finish strong with and audience...LOL

I was down there yesterday taking Boris for a ride and wetting a line. Only caught some squaws. I must say I was amazed at all the glass on the beach. The place is trashed. I was worried the dog was going to get cut.
swan falls has long had a party problem it is colse to kuna so alot of people go down their to party also it is very rarely patoled by fish and game or the ada county sheriff so makes for a lot of trash with that said swanfalls has some of the best fishing close to boise their is you can go 1 or 2 miles up river form the dam and never see any one else all day on a weekend but below the dam it can get crazy down their some times i was told by idaho power that they have to pay to have the sheriff to come patrol down their so that is why there is hardy any patrol down their but go down river to celibation park and their is almost always a canyon county sheriff boat down their seems crazy to me

I've only tried above the damn once. What's the main target there? Bass or catfish?

bass catfish carp crappie sturgen every once in a while nice 20inch plus rainbows pretty much every thing that is in most snake river resiviors except i have never caught a perch above the dam really if your carefull you can go 7 or 8 miles up with out a problem depending on the boat we use to do in a 12ft aluminum boat with 6hp outboard geart bass fishing up there just be carefull once you get out of the cayon and get to the first ranch house their are big shelfs in the middle of the river that run about 3inch of water over them depending on the flows but they are hard to see so like i said be carefull up their. their is also a way to drive in up their but it is a rough road in but worth it if you dont have a boat good spot to camp in the spring before it gets to hot and great spot for catfish and bass off the bank

I caught perch above the dam last year, first time ever. I heard since the big flows a few years back the ones that lived above strike dam washed in, not sure how much truth to that origin but they were healthy.
