Hey I know I've mentioned this too much, but for anyone that is interested here is a photo of my toon mod... Yup my wife is now sure she married a full red neck... Later J

Not sure what happened to that picture, but lets try again.. J

Nice mods, but have you tried turning the head of the motor around? It will help. Also better to pull than to push a toon with a motor.[cool]

dont forget to register your boat. since it has a motor it needs numbers

Thanks for the info, my motor head will turn around, but so far I haven't had a problem at all with this configuration it is amazing how much control it gives me over positioning of the craft, I love it so far... My biggest complaint is the added weight makes it harder to load and it rides a lot lower in the water so waves may be an issue.... I may find in time that your motor suggestion will come in handy, but so far I really like the way it is handling... Thanks for the suggestion... J

Got them on the back of the seat, so it's good.... I may have to figure out number plates for each side, but the officer that inspected it for me 3 years ago when I started this project and registered it the first time told me it was okay the way I did it... so I hope it will be okay... If not I'm sure it won't take long for them to let me know... Crazy how the registration costs more than it did to buy the toon.... Something doesn't seem right to me here, but they don't seem to want to listen when I complain about it... Anyone else looking to try this, look at the fees for invasive species, licensing and etc. before you get too far into it, because they can cost more than the craft... I bought my toon new from Cabela's at $99 and the yearly fee is $45 license, Idaho IS tag was $30ish and Wyoming is $30 to $35 so it doesn't take long to add up the costs.... Oh and then there is the insurance that you have to have at $100 per year, parking fee at $75 and etc.. get's spendy to put a boat on the water... Too bad it's so much fun from a floating platform, and good I get it all legal before the furlough's kick-in and I can't afford it ... Later J

[cool][#0000FF]Looking good.
Wondered why all the PVC is getting so scarce.

Ahh don't tell my wife her sprinkler mod might be on hold this summer. Might have used some of those parts and pieces by mistake. It's always scary when an engineer starts building without a drawing. Thanks for the input. J

Nice man! You could put sails on that thing and go wind powered! [
]
How much do you think that weighs loaded and ready to go?
[signature]
Yep it sails pretty well when the wind blows. Problem is its usually in the wrong direction. Thus the need for the motor. It weighs enough so it's a handful to move alone. The battery is a big one about 70 lbs so I'm probably around 120 to 150. I used to pack this toon into White Pine but not anymore. Thanks for the comment. Later J

Looks great. I have been thinking about trying a pontoon out. I spent this spring break on my tube. TubeDude would be proud.

[#0000FF][cool]Good on ya.

I think you will like the results. I know I'm very happy so far. I appreciate TD's thoughts and advice over the years it's helped me avoid several mistakes that would have dampened the fun I'm hoping to have soon with this machine. Now if I could just learn to catch fish like TD. Nice to have a goal. Later J

I just finished my motor/battery mount. Next up is the fish finder mount.
I don't think I'll ever have quite all the tricks on it that some of the models around here do (I don't intend to be on it for longer than 2-3 hour runs -- and most on the short end of that).
But hey, the electric motors are really fun!

On your mount are you going to put any support under the back of the tube? I found with my wifes fish cat 4 there needed to be a little support for the motor and battery or else it would not sit level. We put the white bumpers under it and this gave it the extra float power it needed to level out. Looks really good.
[signature]
Yes.
I am going to add one of those boat bumpers beneath the battery area. I'm using a lighter battery (25lbs) because I don't need to pack all the power for long trips -- so I think one will do the job.

I recommend turning the head around on the motor as well. Easier to pull you than to push.[cool]
[signature]
Hell to the ya that is bad ass man I'm going to buy one and steal your idea now lol [
]
[signature]
Ya that's already done too
.
That photo was my final "fit" test before adding a bunch more screws, flipping the motor, and filling the tubes with gap-filling foam.

I don't think ya need everything just what is important to you. If ya don't use it, it's just clutter in a spot you don't have room for any. Now if we could just avoid the power squadron the toons would be the ultimate. Later J
