I am ready too go hit CJ one of these days, I need too get my boat motor going, anyone a good boat engine mechanic, goes into protective mode after about 10 seconds, replaced the oil sensor, had the carbs rebuilt, and put a new choke sylinoid on it, its a Suzuki motor so nobody around here seems too have any answers for me, and I have $750 in "trying too get it fixed" and I did some of the work....

Bummer Ill give it a whack. Is it a oil tank sensor? Or oil injection sensor?
I am sure you already know this but here goes.

My basic trouble shooting strategy is the same no matter what I am working on.

First you need to find out every situation that can cause it to go into (protection mode). (Water temp, pressure, oil level, oil pressure? Over rev? On and on) then you need to find a way to eliminate each as a possibility one at a time starting with the most likely. You need to make sure the motor is actually getting oil and then make sure that the computer knows it is.

Does it have a water pressure sensor? If so they are notorious for getting a small piece of vegetation stuck in them.

Figure out if each sensor is "normally closed" "normally open" or "variable" and I will tell you how to test them.
Do you have a digital multi meter? If not I will try and tell you how to trick the computer for "redneck diagnostics".

Lots of Google and lots of phone calls to lots of shops all across the country and you will start to eliminate possibilities one at a time. Let me know if you find out anything.

Good luck
