Anyone have one of these. They sound wonderful but ive been reading some mixed reviews. I just know nothing sucks more than pulling a 20 plus lb anchor up from 90 ft

Yup had one on my Mom's pontoon boat - worked great for lake fishing for the ole ladies on the lake...

I would just trade in my 20 lber. for a quick release fluke style anchor http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Lb-Hooker-Quik-set-Galvanized-Fluke-Style-Anchor-/390386905972?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D200708182446%26ps%3D54#ht_1898wt_1096

put a 6' piece of galvinized chain with 150' anchor rope and you should be able to anchor in up 100' of H20.

After losing 12 anchors with 100 ft of rope on each in the Snake River. I bought a 45 lb winch made by A&E and couldn't be happier. I rig my anchor backwards and attach the top mid chain with a zip tie, if it gets stuck the zip tie breaks and the anchor comes up backwards. Hoisting by hand sux.

In subzero temps it would still suck to to pull any weight anchor up from 90 ft ice cold water never helps when the temps are below freezing. Rope freezes to itself if out of the water for a second. Thought about a hand crank winch. Do they make a faster one with larger spool? different sprocket sizes perhaps

Great winch. My buddy had one mounted on his bass boat when he had one. Worked great.

Sounds like you need a Minn Kota I-Pilot with.....

Spot-LockSpot-Lock works like an electronic anchor. Choose up to six separate spots for i-Pilot to remember, and at the push of a button, it will correct for wind or current to hold you in place. Spot-Lock Recall lets you return to your spot later, from up to a quarter mile away.

or buy a cheap Anchor Buoy Retriever

Having grown up on the Columbia where anchoring in deep water is the norm - we always just took turns retrieving the anchor.
