I finally got a couple pics of the big Red Tailed Catfish I got in Brazil last week. I was thinking 40-45. The guide insisted he was 50. He bottomed out a 30 lb Boga Grip before he was anywhere near off the ground. For reference, I'm 6' 01" and 300.

There was a report from a local man born and raised of an 80lb red tail cat sighting.."followed in his lure"
Also a huge Arapaima at the golf course lake[shocked]

I tried Yote, Customs got 'em.[

Nice catch on the Marbled Cat, Paulpro. The arapaima may not be too far from reality. I had one of those in my aquarium when I was a kid. I had arowanas, too. They will outgrow an aquarium. I'd imagine some folks would just let them go.
It was cool catching one of the Arowanas from their native habitat last week. I thought it would be weird, but I was pretty stoked when I got it.

Lucky! how did you catch yours? I hear they like sunny days and fast moving baits, and are sreious jumpers even going up in the trees!!
there's one here I found but its really smart, won't even take a live fish,I'm about to try a cast net!
or maybe a mouse or live lizard or something?
I don't have any pics but a couple videos I can share .The day of the 1st sighting I ended up staying up all night just to get some footage in the morning[

The guides there say they like a fly stripped slowly. They are very spooky and don't seem very aggressive. I got mine on a blind strike, first thing in the morning, on a peacock fly (4" long chartreuse/white) stripped very fast. Go figure. He jumped a couple times. The coolest thing about the whole thing was the novelty of finally catching an arowana. Best fighter of the trip, hands down, was the catfish.

I know the Red Tail is catch of a life time!! WTG Jim!
