Went fishing with my son last night at Deer Creek from about 8:30-10:30 pm. The wind was pretty bad and it started snowing, but the fish were on! We landed three and missed about 5 or 6 more. The fish were fat and thick!
They were in real shallow, maybe 20 feet from shore. We used pink Power Bait on a 12 inch leader ahead of a slide sinker, and green/black 1/8 oz. jigs with crawlers. With the jigs, the fish just wanted a slow, straight retrieve. When I say slow, I mean slow. It took about 3 or 4 minutes to pull the jig back in. I would pull up a little and let the jig drag bottom, reel to take up slack line, wait 30 seconds, then repeat.
