Just Venting a little....
A co-worker of mine goes every weekend shed hunting... For the past 3 weekends he's been going to the book cliffs area looking for the sheds. He has encountered more abuse of 4-wheelers going off trail looking for shreds they he could have ever imagined.
He said just about everywhere he hiked 4 wheelers had been going in circles through the sage brush and hills shed hunting. He did not see the buttheads - only the tracks.
I don't hunt or even go to the bookcliffs but have heard many a grand thing about the Big Game in the area.
Hate to hear of this abuse but this is why 4-wheelers get a bad name - [frown]

That is very unfortunate. I have atv's, I enjoy tooling around on them and do stay on the trails. I do wish they would change the current law an allow an Atv directly to and from a downed animal, with yahoos like that destroying everything it will never happen. Always a couple bad apples.

help me out here - shed hunting? Are they looking for sheds to shoot?
I have no personal problem with off-roaders, when they stay on the designated roads, rather than choosing to break trail, or go where - there's no frickin sense in going! There's been efforts in the canyon near me to close off the "extra" roads, and help protect the stream beds from rampant abuse.
I have a vacant lot across from my home (uphill) and have made efforts to block access to ATVs, etc. Yet there are still bozos that actually took the effort to bust up the cinderblock I'd placed.
ALL for the dog-walkers and hikers that cross that lot for access to the hills above.
Two houses up is a dirt road that grants access. Yet - some goons in their pickup decide to try to rip straight up the hill. Got stuck several times in several places as they blazed trails. Part of MY issue is they kick dirt. rocks, and gravel down across the sidewalk and into the road.
The erosion risk puts MY house in danger if we have big rains and runoff. If the gutter is blocked - it'll go STRAIGHT at my driveway. So - yeah - it's personal.
And really - there are established dirt trail/roads that can be ventured on without carving new grooves into the hillside.
Makes me want to get a gun, and go "explain" it to them, and their 4 big tires! I'd lay spikes, but I don't wish any harm to the walkers and their dogs. I re-piled my rocks, and so far - they haven't been moved.
It's not my land, but it's even MORE not theirs. Next step - I'm contacting the city and the police.
My bad -- The Bozos are hunting shed antlers -- Horn Hunters.
They (the bozos) are the reason why I don't buy a 4 wheeler - cause the have about ripped up every trail in the state and they are a major bad thing in lazy hands.
