Was meaning to get out and chase some kitties, but ran into three strikes - windy, wet, and cold. Bad combo. So instead - I bopped by the river on the way home for a few pitches.

Determined - I grabbed the fly rod, and left everything else in the car. Hit the Logan river out by the golf course, and used the wind at my back to fling some flies. Lots of surface gulpers, so I pitched, and floated my fly downstream.

Wasn't getting a whole lotta love - BUT I did catch my first Trout on a fly for this year. Um, not gonna BWO it, cuz I'd be laughed off for posting a 4inch dinker, but it was cute all the same.

Instead of tying on various different colors and patterns to see what they REALLY wanted, after spying a LUNKER of a big fish in the bottom of the pool, I broke down, grabbed the spinner rig, and jigging rod.
Wham - they wanted the shiny thing! Big hits, swipes, and um - er - misses. Those river browns sure do swipe and parry!

The marabou jig got some love, and brought in a few browns. Didn't connect with the toad (coulda been a carp, but didn't move like one!). The sun actually came out for a while. And the rain had let up, though the wind didn't.

Lots of changes along that river front. It'll be interesting to see how it settles in. Pretty muddy mess, but lots less trees to share flies with.

As Aaaaarnold would say, "I'll be baaack!"
