Well went and chases the carp today and I managed to catch the biggest fish to date on my fly rod, it went 30" and it wasnt even the biggest one I scene, now im curious on how big the others I scene were. I.caught it on my 5wt, on a red san juan, strpped me clear into my backing about 3 times before I got it to where I.could grab it. I really need a net. Here is a pic.

Congrats! That is one cool looking carp. Fun stuff!

You'd have to get a salmon net to have one big enough.

Are you back in Idaho? If so I need to get after them. I didn't think it was warm enough yet.

Thanks, it is the biggest fish I have caught out of that river yet, and I scene a few that were swimming with this one that looked to be visually longer. I will be going back and trying for one of the others I scene. I would love to take some one else to show them the area, it has more than enough big carp for others. It was a spot I fished once prior but not for carp. And there are literally hundreds of them in the one stretch. It is a great spot. Water is semi clear can see the bottom but it is only knee deep. And it is a great spot for fly fishing for carp. Lots of carp, very long strait on the river and only knee deep.

Yes back in Idaho, I messed up my ankle pretty good, and it is just starting to not hurt so bad. So I've been chasing them carp. I found a prime spot if you don't mind wading, found some bigger than the ones I've been finding at Alexander
