Hey guys. I'm new to wiper fishing. I haven't even beem to willard bay. But I was planning to head to willard in a few weeks. I will be fishing on the shore and/or a float tube. Can anyone give me some tips like location, lures, and other thing that could help me. Thanks guys.

Right now the Wipers are looking to the bottom for there food. The shad are few and spread out. What I do is bait fish with cut Chub minnows. If you find the catfish you will find the Wipers. Some folks like mussles for bait as well. Shrimp are good to.
Later when the water gets above 65 deg. you can start throwing lipless cranks in a shad pattern and I like Kastmasters in the 3/8 oz size. White jigs are good to. Keep a few poppers in your bag for when they school up and feed near the surface. (Julyish)
I catch fish on the West bank as well as the South bank this time of year. There is no magic rock to fish from so go out and explore. If you dont get any bites move around till ya do.
