Today Alvin and I decided to chase some crappie. Called up Polo and got a few tips and put the boat in the water at 3 and we were off.
Fished two docks today and caught fish off both of them. Problem was they were mostly 9-9.5" long. We ended up boating 50 crappie but only had 10 keepers and 2 of those were just 10" so we let them go. Typical dock fishing but for crappie rookies like us we had a blast.
While we were fishing the first dock, we heard a loud splash. I turned to see a squirel had fallen out of a tree into the water. It could not make it up the retaining wall so I trolled over and using my paddle, picked him up and put him in dry land. He looked at me funny and ran back up the tree. Your welcome.
Hit one spawning flat and got one keeper crappie.
Gave up on crappie and decided to bass fish for out last 45 minutes. Hit my favorite spawning flat and did not take long to hook up with a nice 4.1 lber. Hardest fighting 4 lber I have ever caught. About 5 minutes later Alvin boats a 2 lber. Both came on 10" worms fished in about 5-6 feet. Threw a XR75 for a few minutes and boated a small drum, that was a first.
Ended the day at 7 with 50 crappie boated, 4 bluegill, 1 warmouth, 2 largemouth and a drum. Water temp was 66-67 depending on where you were. Nice day on the water. Thanks again for the tips Polo.
