Going up to hyrum for a scout campout and wanted to know how to catch fish from the shore there, any part of the lake is good.

Powerbait anywhere near the dam usually works well. If you catch a tagged fish take it to the park offices and claim a prize.

I've always had good luck casting gold and silver spoons and spinners from the dam area too. I love Hyrum. I often fish there just for an hour or 90 mins around work up in Logan.

I've caught fish there all the time... not big ones but always some.

Love pitching the spoons and spinners too, but I could see where passive approach might benefit the scouts (age?) Maybe consider a drop-shot setup. Three way swivel, keep the bait up off the bottom some (less snags, less "action")

the classic worms, powerbait, gulp-minnows should do well. Might find some perch too. Green garlic. But lots of options. Think about pitching out towards the bouys. Structure is always good, even if subtle.
Turn some logs too- might find crawdads in the nooks (line, and chicken legs - could do well at night)
